About the Event

International Overdose Awareness Day is a time to remember, honor, and celebrate the lives of those lost to substance use while supporting the families and friends who continue to carry their memory forward.

This year, M-COPE invites the community to join us for A Light For Our Angels, a special afternoon dedicated to remembrance, healing, and hope. Together, we will honor those we have lost, support one another through shared experiences, and shine a light on the lasting impact addiction has on individuals, families, and communities.

This event is free and open to the community.

The Texas Memorial Walkway®

Experience the powerful, redesigned Texas Memorial Walkway®, featuring hundreds of individuals whose lives were lost to substance use. Each display serves as a reminder that every life mattered and every story deserves to be remembered.

Balloons of Hope & Peace

Add the name of a loved one to our beautiful Balloons of Hope & Peace display. This special tribute allows families and friends to publicly honor those who have impacted their lives.

Angel Wings Photo Opportunity

Capture a meaningful photo in front of our angel wings backdrop as a symbol of remembrance, love, and hope.

Community Connection

Connect with other families, advocates, and community members who understand the impact of substance use and loss.

Candlelight Tribute

We will conclude the afternoon with a heartfelt candlelight tribute honoring those we have lost to substance use.

Why We Gather

M-COPE’s mission is centered on awareness, education, prevention, and remembrance. While much of our work focuses on preventing future loss, we also believe it is important to honor those who are no longer with us.
