Criteria for Eligibility
Frequently Asked Questions

High school seniors or individuals residing, working, or being educated in Montgomery County, Texas who have overcome adversity related to themselves or someone they love and are committed to substance use prevention, mental health awareness, or community advocacy.

Applicants must submit a personal essay about their experiences or goals related to M-COPE’s mission and provide proof of enrollment or acceptance at an accredited college, university, or vocational school.

Recipients are chosen based on their commitment to advocacy, the quality of their essay, and their demonstrated dedication to making a difference in the community.

(1) How have you personally overcome addiction or substance use, and how do you plan to inspire and support others by carrying the message forward through advocacy or acts of service? (2) How have you navigated and overcome the impact of a friend or loved one's addiction or substance use, and how do you plan to continue spreading hope and awareness to others through advocacy or acts of service?
A recommendation letter should include your relationship to the applicant, how long you’ve known them, and your contact information (name, phone, and email). Be sure to highlight specific positive qualities you have observed, providing examples of how the applicant has demonstrated these traits in action. If your connection is through an organization, please mention its name.
